Domenique Davies
Registered Veterinary Technician
Having joined Algonquin Animal Hospital in the spring of 2008, Domenique brings a wealth of prior experience to her position here. After graduating from Centralia College in 1992, she enjoyed working in a mixed animal practice for 14 years, then at an emergency practice for a year and a half. Seeking a lifestyle change, she and her family moved to Muskoka in 2007. Domenique shares her home with her husband, two children, and Kenzie, her three year old boxer.
With a special interest in obedience and agility, for many years Domenique has assisted in teaching novice obedience and has competed in obedience and agility with her own dog. She also enjoys seeing all the new puppies and kittens and their proud parents. Interesting and unusual cases are also intriguing as this is where one tends to learn new things.
In her free time, Domenique enjoys hiking/walking with Kenzie, camping, canoeing and spending time with her family.
Leslie Holmes
Registered Veterinary Technician
Leslie has been with Algonquin Animal Hospital for three years. After graduating from Northern College in 2002, Leslie worked at African Lion Safari (one of the highlights of her working career) for six months before securing a position in a small animal practice in Cambridge where she worked for 3 years. During this time, she also worked at an Emergency Clinic for a year, so she brings with her experience in critical care and emergency nursing. In 2005, Leslie settled in Muskoka and joined our team here at Algonquin Animal Hospital.
Leslie loves interacting with pets as family members, and through client education, nutrition, and medicine she is able to help the family's relationship grow with their pets.
Leslie continues to be energized by her chosen career - she loves surgery, most particularly orthopedic surgery. She is always up for a pop quiz from the boss, and loves to learn something new each and every day.
Leslie, her husband, and Roxy, their two year old english bulldog enjoy their Muskoka home. In her spare time, you will find Leslie scrap booking, motorcycling, paper quilling, card making, stain glass creating, and when the weather permits, beaching!
Erin Aston
Registered Veterinary Technician
Erin graduated from Northern College in 2002. She then worked for three years at a 24-hour hospital in North York. She also spent two and a half years at a small animal practice in downtown Toronto.
We were lucky to be able to have Erin join our team in 2007. Competent in all aspects of veterinary care, Erin loves to see the variety of cases that we see day to day. Emergency and orthopedic medicine is of special interest to her.
With her warm and inviting personality, Erin is quick to befriend her patients and their owners.
Erin's newly adopted furry companion is Dickie, a grey and white domestic short hair kitten. Dickie was named after the bass player of the Allman Brothers Band!
In her spare time, Erin enjoys skiing, golf, horseback riding, fishing and camping. Muskoka is the ideal location for her!

Jan brings to us a wealth of experience from her job experiences in various veterinary hospitals throughout Canada. As an Animal Care Technician "many moons ago", she has worked in both large and small animal practices, gaining experience with horses, cattle, pygmy goats, rabbits, dogs, cats, and various exotic pets! We have been lucky to have her here at Algonquin since 2004.
Jan has fun meeting new people and their pets, and giving puppies and kittens a big squeeze! She enjoys the opportunity to learn with each day being different and unpredictable.
She shares her home in Port Sydney with her husband and two golden retrievers, Flannigan, 7 years old (who moved here with them from British Columbia) and Fletcher, 4 years old, who joined their family here in Ontario, and two orange tabby cats, Carter, 12 years old (who also moved here from British Columbia), and O'Mally, 1 year old, a stray that Jan recently adopted.
In her spare time, Jan creates beautiful stained glass projects, enjoys gardening and cross country skiing.
Becky Helsel
Client Services
Becky joined our team in spring, 2008, although she had spent time here previously as a coop student during her high school years. Having grown up in Muskoka, Becky returned home to settle down and pursue a career locally.
Becky graduated from Vancouver Community College as a Nursing Unit Coordinator in 2007, and also spent four years at the University of Guelph in Marine and Freshwater Biology graduating in 2003.
Meeting and interacting with people and their pets is what Becky loves most about her job, as well as learning new and interesting things each day. She is the first to sign up for continuing education opportunities!
Becky shares her life with Pepsi, a 7 year old tri colour jack Russell terrier, and Whiskey, a 5 year old grey and white domestic short hair cat.
Dedicated to the community in which she grew up, Becky is a volunteer fire fighter.
Spare time finds Becky enjoying camping and canoeing, taekwondo, reading, spending time with family and friends, and scuba diving and snorkeling.

Ellen Crockford
Hospital Administrator
Ellen joined Algonquin and Bracebridge Animal Hospitals in 2005.
A graduate of Huntsville High School, then gaining "on the job training" for some 28 years, Ellen has a special focus on continual learning with interests in both veterinary medicine and business administration.
Born and raised in Port Sydney, she grew up on the family farm where she continues to help out, especially with the haying each summer! She feels her farming roots have kept her grounded and has been a wonderful lifestyle to share with her two children.
Seeing our teams deliver sound progressive veterinary medicine while providing outstanding client care in a professional yet relaxed and happy atmosphere is what Ellen loves most about her job. The amazing pets and their families are also pretty gratifying!
Ellen is surrounded by wonderful pets - J.B., a 34 year old retired cutting horse lives at the family farm in Port Sydney, Soldier, a rescued five year old Burnese cross, Cici, a fun loving pomeranian that spends weekends with Ellen and her family, Smidge, a 13 year old brown tabby (also a rescue - her mom was killed by a fisher and she was hand raised), Minnie, a 6 year old DLH grey tabby who was dropped off in Ellen's yard as a young pregnant forlorn kitten, and Tinkerbell, a two year old guinea pig with a mind of her own!
