Interested members of the community can bring in their used batteries and used cell phones to either the Bracebridge or Algonquin Animal Hospitals. The staff will in turn take used batteries to the hazardous wastes collection after the challege is completed. The cell phones will be recycled as part of the Eco-cell fundraiser for the Metro Toronto Zoo.

Adopt A Highway

In our ongoing effot to recognize the importance of the world aournd us and to make it a better place for all, the staff at Algonquin Animal Hospital, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, have adopted a 2 km stretch of Highway 60 (Morgan's Road to Tonat Terrace).

We have commited to pick up litter along this stretch of highway approaching beautiful Algonquin Park at least two times a year intil 2012. Our first work party will hit the ditches on Saturday May 30th (with a rain date of Saturday June 6th).

The May 30th clean-up resulted in 23 bags of garbage along with numerous piles of debris and bags of recycling for collection

Battery Drive

Thank you for your participation in our recent Battery Drive. The month-long campaign toward recycling and collection of used batteries was a huge success! Between our two hospitals we collected over 190 lbs of batteries and kept these from going into our landfill sites. Thank you to everyone that participated in helping to keep our environment cleaner and safer!
